Sydney, March 13.

The second stage of the New South Wales League of Wheelmen's carnival was completed to-day. Simpson, a New Zealander, secured a place in the Sydney Wheel race, the final of which will be run next Saturday night. A challenge race over five miles between Lesna, the Frenchman, and Elliott, of Sydney, was won by the latter. The Frenchman, who conceded the Colonial a lap, was splendidly paced by tandem, but Elliott's pacing was not up to the mark. However, he got home thirty yards ahead of his opponent, his time being llmin 7 l-sth sees. A paced ten mile tournament heat between Green (England) and Porta (Italy) resulted in a decisive victory for the Englishman. Time, 21min sscs. The final will be run next Saturday.
