Thames Drainage Board.

The ordinary meeting of the Thames Drainage Board was held at the office of the secretary, Mr D. G. McDonnell, New Zealand Insurance Buildings, Auckland, yestoi'day forenoon, Mr G. S. Kissling, chairman of directors, prosiding. There were also present : Messrs J. Dickey, B. Comer, T. Badford, Gordon, J. Friar Clarke, J. Park, and McEnteer.

MANAGER'S 11EP0RT.

The acting manager, in his monthly report, stated that everything in connection with the pump and machinery has been working smoothly during the past month. The working expenses for the month had been £230, and the monthly coal account £261 3s.

APPOINTMENT OP NEW MANAGER.

Four applications for the position of works manager to the Board were read from H. 8. Loece, Tararu road, Thames ; William Bennett, Puriri; J. Brokenshire, Thames; and Thomas Grundy, Thames. On the motion of Mr Badford, seconded by Mr Park, it was resolved that Mr Brokenshire be appointed manager and pitman at a salary of £4 10s, per week, provided he can obtain the necessary permit from the Government to occupy the position. BEBATE. It was decided, on the motion of the chairman, to allow the usual rebate to contributing companies who have paid their contributions within the specified time. TENDERS. Tenders for the supply of coal for the Big Pump were received from Peter Maxwell (Thames), James Smith (Auckland) and J. J. Craig (Auckland). That of Mr Maxwell being the lowest, was accepted. The tender of Mr Maxwell for the cartage of coal was also accepted.
