Sydney, March 11
Sir Joseph Abbott has returned from his trip to New Zealand. He states that he found a great improvement as compared to years ago. Auckland especially had increased in busines.s activity, which was due to the activity of the Thames goldfields. As an example of the progress and evident stability of the country, he found that although a quarter of a million had been lent by the A.M.P. Society, only £14 was due as interest at the end of December last.
