The final cricket match to decide the winners of the senior championship was commenced in Auckland on Saturday, the two contesting teams being 1 Auckland and United. The latter, -who were the first to start their innings, put together the very respectahlo total of 196, Stemson contributing 57, Marshall 36, Cuff 31, and C. Hay 28, and in the short time left to bat at the conclusion of United's innings, Auckland lost four wickets for 16 runs, It. Neill being not out with 13, H. Thomas 0, D. Cloyton 3, A. G, Holland 0, J. Arueil 0, In the United ranks D. Hay, and on th.j opposing side A. U-. Holland, who are both very young and promising bats, each suffered the misfortune of being run out without 6coring. For Auokland, S. Cluytoii took 4 -wickets for 05 ruas, E. Neill 3 for 47, St. Paul 1 for 7S, Stone 1 for 18, and Beale 0 fori7.
