Sunday School Union.

'The regular social meeting of the teachers of the Sunday School UjUon was held on Thursday evening in the Tararu Sunday School. The President, Mr W. H.Newton, occupied the chair, and between sixty and seventy of those connected with oar local Sunday Schools were present. The Auckland Union wrote stating that the usual teachers' examination on ' Trumbull's teachers and teaching' and a selected portion of Scripture, would be Imld about August next; that tjic certificates gained at; the recent exhibition would very shortly be ready for issue ; and that financially the exhibition had not been as successful as was anticipated. Mr C. E. Swales having resigned his position as corresponding secretary, Mr F. Whitehead, who had held the office previously, and who has again settled at t'ae Thames, was unanimously elected to the vacant position. Considerable discussion re proposed teachers' preparation class 'took place, and the matter was advanced a stag* by twelve of those present signifying their willingness to attend the class as often as they could, and it was agreed that the superintendents supply the Union .secretary with a list of those teachers willing to make the effort. The class is to be conducted by the Ministers, and will be held on Wednesday evenings after the usual services in the', various schools in town. The President gave an account of the business transacted at the January meeting of the Auckland Union, and emphasised a suggestion made to establish the practice of secretaries ofschools notifying the removal of families trom one school district to another. The idea was to stop in some measure the leakage of elder scholars, who, once lost, are seldom recovered. During the evening Miss Wilson sang " Two Wings," and Mr Newton sang '• Consider the Lilies." Before the company dispersed the teachers handed round light refreshments, for which, on the "notion of Mr C. J. Urown, they were accorded a hearty vote of thanks.
