CHRISTCHURCH.—March 5. Judge Denniston gave a lengthy and exhaustive judgment which took 40 minutes to deliver in the long standing action Ell v. Harper. He exonerated the officials of the court from the allegations of improper conduct, and directed that items amounting to £100 be credited to the plaintiff, and that the interest on the item of £250 be reduced to £50. , On the other items it was decided that t^e finding in favour of the Department should not be disturbed.
