. Auckland, March 4. The University Senate resumed today, Dr. Fitchett, Prof. Gilroy, and Mr E. H: Grossinau were appointed examiners for the MaeMillim-Browu memorial prize to be awarded in 1899. On thß motion of Prof. Cook, the Senate resolved on German as an alternative for physics in the bachelor of music examination.

It was resolved to record W. V. Patetuertvas having passed in chemistry and physics in the intermediate medi-cal-examination.

The finance committee recommended the Senate to offer for competition this year fourteen junior scholarships, each at £30 a year, tenable for three years, with au addition of £20 per year for each of those holders of scholarships who are obliged to live away from home to attend the university college.
