PURU CONSOLIDATEDDuring the week Mr Ja*. p ar k, inspecting engineer for the Anglo-Continenta Company, visited the above property in the interest of the Company he is representing. After a thorough inspection of the various developments, M r p, U |j cx . pressed himself as being highly pleastd with the prospects of the mine and its acquirement-. We understand that the Cooper's Bxplori g Company, of England, have paid 1:500 deposit, being tbe first instalment of ■ £IGOO, and that half that' option has been off-red to the Anglo Company, us Mr Park holds a high opinion of the properly. There is no d<»ubt about bin pc pie payii g tbe oiher £500 for the four nv-nths option. With two auch powerful syndicates the Puru Consolidated should be made a hi ge success in its flotaion.

HAZELBANK, The developments in this mine are beina actively and systematically pu hed forward, but these are at present confined lo the No. 1 Itvel. It is, however, anticipated that instructions will be received by the manager to proceed with the contemplated development? on the deeper level*. Sa far Mr Paul has proved himself to be a very able manager, siuce he has successfully opened up a bock of ground at a point where the lodes were con idered of poor valuta The block nferied to is that being opened up on the junction of Darby's reef and cross-!ode. Here on the long rise being earned ap, the lodis have thickened to f tally 18 inches, and to far gold has been very freely seen, whilst a few pounds of picked stone are occasionally coming to hand. In conjunction with this work, tbe otosscutinto Kelly'd section to intersect the No. 9 rerf, is being steadily advanced. At present a very hard class of rock is being passed through, which makes progress slow. What extent there is of this rock is not as yet known ; probably.* few feet at the outside may see tbe worst of it. However, Mr Paul views the intersection of tbe No. 9 level and its surroundings as one of importance, and there is a reasonable probability of something of a payable character awaiting development here.
