The Sultan is much agitated at Said Pasha refusing to accept the Viziership unleeß Izlet Bey, one of the most favored advisers of the SultaD, is dismissed, and he accusses Said Pasha of aiding tbe Moslem reformers.

Said Pas a a and his eldest son, evading the spies, made their escape and reached the British Embassy, when they pleaded for help, as their liberty asid life were in peril. The Sultan sent several Ministers to negotiate for the surrender of Said Pasha, but Sir Phillip Currie declined the request, and fieclarerl that the refugees might remain as his guests as long as they chose. The action has caused a tremendous sensation. Spies surround the Embassy, and British bluejackets are within.

Said Pasha hitherto was Anti-British, and very popular with the Moslems. Russia is arranging for the transfer of forty of her torpedo boats to the Black Sea.

December 8. SURROUNDING A BRITISH GUN

BOAT. The Turks charge the Armenians with outrages in Anatolia, also with poisoning wells.

The Turkish troops surrounded a British gunboat in the harbor, fearing Said Pasha would escape aboard her. Sir P. Currie protested and they were withdrawn.
