LOSS OF THE CATTERTHUN.
INQUEST ON THE VICTIMS.
(Pee Peess Association.)
Sydney, August 12. The inquest on the victims of the Catterthun disaster has begun at Forster.
Lanfaer, in his evidence, stated that he was in charge at the time of the vessel striking, the captain being in the chart room. He saw the Seal light, but declined to give the course steered. He did not see the green light, which would indicate danger. He refused to say whether lie altered the course during his watch or what position the Seal light bore at the time they struck.
