The following is a short resume of the plot of "The Gondoliers,".which is to be performed to-night. The scene opens in Venice, and the period is the time of the Spanish Inquisition. The infant sou of the King of Bavatara was stolen and put in charge of a foster mother, the wife of a gondolier. He was brought up with the two sons of the gondolier, and no one but the foster mother knew which was the King's son. Iv course of time the heir was wanted t> fake his seat on the thvonr, and as the m .ther had ia the mea- time placed the real heir as attendant on the Duke of Piazatoria. One of the two sons ot the gondoliers was supposed to be the young king. To solve the difficulty, the two sous of the Gondoliers were placed on the throve, a;id reig^td conjointly. While all tbis was happening, Gasilda, daughter of the Duke, who had been betrrthod in her infancy to the heir apparent, ftlhinlove wiih her father's attendant. She h taken* to Court with a view to see her affianced husband, but which he is nobody knowr. Eventually the foster-mother lets out the secret of the rightful heir, which tuins out to be the despised attendant, Louis. 'Ihey are married, and ascend the throne. A 1 ends happily. ',
