THE MACKAY STBBET SWAMP. This work was mr'airily the most urgently needed ia the Borough, and he had only delayed moving in the matter until the necessary funds were to hand. In carrying out this work tie Council could kill two biris with one stone. It *a? necessary just now to clean and lower the mouth of the Karaka Creek, and they could at the same time 111 in this portion of Mackay street with the gravel carted from the creek. The quantity of water which now collected in the street could certainly not be healthy, and it was high time the matter was attended to. He w< old move:—" That the Foreman of Works be instructed to see to the matter." Cr Scott seconded. Or Comer said that in this locality a fall of 3 or 4 feet could be obtained. The motion was carried.
