London, June 18. Sit Saul Samuel, Agent-General for New S »uth Wales, has tendered Vificount Harai:deu IVtmier Reid's congratulations on t.id appointment: to the Governorship of the colony. The colonial office is highly pleased at the manner in which the appointment was received in Sydney, and ou the reading of Mr Reid's cable'in the House of Commons ' the announcement was heartily cheered. It has now been ascertained that the appointment was never offered to Sir. A. D. Hayter.
