MAT QUEEN. The manager reports as follows—• 11 The drive on No- 4 reef is in 296 feet. On Friday the eastern break was met with. This no doubt will throw the reef to the left a few feel. I expect to pick it up > again in a few feet of driving. The did- / fcancs between the two breaks at No. 3 v level was 95 feefc, at No. 4 level it is only 36 feefc. The leading stope is now along between the two breaks, and thereof ig three feet thick, showing colonrs of gold. The reef in the second stope is two feet thick, and a little- cold is seen. In the third and fourth sfcopes the reef is being shot, and is fully 8 feet wide, being composed of a mass qf-small sfc ingers, which require picking over, and occasionally a few pounds of picked stone are selected* The fifth stope is along 50 feet, and tha reef is about the same as reported in my last. The drive on north west reef is now in 357. feet. During the last few feet the reef has been smaller than usual, but in Ihe face now it has the appearance of making out again. Trenton section: The drive east oa No. 1 reef is in ten feefc, and the reef is 18 inches thick, and strong dabs of gold are seen in the quartz broken. West of the crosscut the quartz has been broken down for 12 feet, and the reef is divided info several ribs of quartz, which will all be taken down, and thorough mullock picked out. Gold is seen in most, of the quartz taken out. Saxon section: The stores over No. 3 level aie without change, the quartz coming to hand being of a payable grade. At the battery the quartz is shaping fairly well, having on hand 442 ounce* of amalgam and 70 oounds of picked stone.—W. H. Bui>cn."
