THE MIDLAND RAILWAY CASE.
(Pbess Association.)
, \ ' "Wellington, May 28. The Post says:—"The Midland ■Railway Company's representatives in the colony have, pending instructions from Home, given notice to all their employees on the line not to pay any attention to the seizure by the Government. They are preparing for . the mail a. protest against the action taken by the Minister in seizing the line. If the seizure is persisted in the company, after' protesting, will probably allow the . question of right to remain in. abeyance until the Arbitration Court; is , properly constructed and able to deal with the. whole case on its merits. It will not permit itself to be pinned down to any narrow legal point irrespective of ■ the broad equities involved in the case. Mr Harris, of Chris tchurch, solicitor for the company, has arrived here from Christchurch to-day to confer -with" Mr George Hutchison, the company's counsel."
