The Naval Band excursion to Tapu on the sth March promises to be a great success, and as the tickets are meeting with a ready sale it is expected that the steamer will be crowded. The p.s. Patiki will leave Goods wharf at the convenient hour of 8 a.m., and upon arrival at Tapu a great variety of sports will be held, including races for boys and girls, quoit match, dancing competition, &c. Tea will be provided for excursionists.

The Oddfellows' excursion to Motutapu to-day wasjan immense succes?,t he steamers Waiotahi, Rototnahaua, and Ohinemuri being crowded from the Thames, and it is estimated that fnliy 1200 persons were on board. The steamers did not get away until about 8.30 o'clock, but the weather being all that could be desired they should have a pleasant trip. It is estimated that the total number at Motutapu to-day will be 5500.
