PURIRI SUNDAY SCHOOL.
■,- The annual soiree in connection with the Puriri Sunday School was celebrated on Thursday night, and was a great success. There was an excellent attendance, including several visitors from the Thames. A t the public meeting held at the conclusion of the tea MrJ. Renshaw presided. Mr Mitchell, Superintendent of the School, presented the annual report, which was of a most satisfactory nature, while the balance-sheet showed a credit balance of £2 19s. An attractive programme was then gone through, and comprised solos by Mesdames Voss and Grubb, and MrVowles; recitationsby Mies Ada Garrett and Mr Fearce ;" duets by Mrs Grubb and Mr Pearce, and Messrs Yowles and Pearce; quartette by Mrs Grubb, Miss Walker, and Messrs Pearce and Vowles; addresses by the Chairman, Bey. J. Olphert, and the Captain of the Salvation Army. During the evening prizes for attendance, &c, were also presented to scholars attending the School. Votes of thanks to all who had assisted in making the affair such a success, and to Mr Bennett for the gratuitous use of his waggonette for the conveyance of Thames visitors to Puriri, were carried by acclamation.
