The budget presented to Parliament to-day shows a deficit of 177,000,000 lire (£7,080,000). The Government propose to^ave 24,000,000lirebyreductions in the public service, and 100,000,000 lire by conversion of the public debt to 4 per cent. Fresh taxation will be imposed, and the corn duty raised to 7 lires per quintal. The Government intend to coin 20,000,000 lires worth of nickel Cains, and issue 60,000,000 lires worth, of Treasury notes. It is also intended to abolish octroi notes on flour and bread.
