ALLEGED BREACH OF THE LICENSING ACT.

Auckland, This day. James Hawkins, licensee of the Queen's Hotel, was yesterday charged at the Police Court with a breach of the Licensing Act by selling beer to Henry Follas, a child of the age of 13 years, during the hours when such premises were directed to be closed. Sergt. Gamble asked for a remand, as the principal witness had " flit" for the time.

On the advice of the Bench the Sergeant withdrew the charge, but will lay a fresh information when the witness is found.
