Onehunga's Mayor Takes a Stand.
[By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent ]
Auckland, This day. At a special meeting of the Onehunga Borough Council, held for the purpose of electing a town clerk, Mrs Yates, who occupied the Chair, objected to the presence of two fiery Councillors who had resigned their seats when she was elected. The two Councillors maintained they had a right to sit till their successors were elected. The Mayor said she ruled differently, and would not allow any business to be transacted while they were present to vote. The meeting was adjourned, and in the meantime two other Councillors will be elected.
