! The manager reports:—" The drive on No. 1 leader at No 2 level is still being ex*tended; the leader continues to look well, and also shows a little gold. A start will be made in a day or two 1 to bring the leading atope forward for the purpose of ventilation. The winze on the crossreef at No. 3 level is now down about 33 feet. The reef still looks promising, but has not shown any gold during the week. The leader is still underlying very flat. In the stopes abov/s No. 3 level the quartz coming to hand from the numerous' veins and leaders during the week has been of a very fair grade, having shown gold pretty freely, and occasionally yielded several pounds of picked stone. The quartz from No. 6 leader above No. 3 level continues to show gold pretty freely, and occasionally yields a little picked stone. Crushing is in progress as usual. The battery and winding engine are in good working < order.— W. Baker." OELANDO. The manager reports:—" The rise has been holed to the winze sunk at the Gold- j finch level, and good ventilation procured for the low level. We have finished timbering the rise and made everything secure, and to-day I have started the men to drive the low level. There is very good ground in the drive and good air for the men to work, so I think tnat yoa may expect that good headway will now be made, and I hope that I will soon be able to report something good."
