London, August 15. All England have lost five wickets for 378 rune. In the first hour odlv 48 runs were scored, and at the end of ninety minutes' Tplay 100 were registered. Both McLeod and Trott were punished, and after lunch the runs came faster, 200 being telegraphed as the result of three hours batting. Later. ALL ENGLAND MAKES 483. The attendance on the second day of the All England match was very large. The weather was splendid, but hot and sultry. The Englishmen made 484, the following being the remaining scores:— Read, b Giffen 52 Briggs, b Giffen ... ... 0 Lockwood, c and b Giffeo.., 10 McGregor, 1.b.w., b Giffen... 5 Jackson, run out ... ... 103 Mold (not out) 0 Extras ... 25 Giffen took seven wickets for 128, Trumble one for 101, and Turner one for 94, AUSTRALIANS MAKE A POOR DISPLAY. The Australians upon going to the wickets made a miserable display, and were all out for 91, the following being the scores:— I Lyons, b Briggs ... 19 Trott, b Lockwood 0 Bannerman, c McGregor, b Lockwood 10 Graham, c McGregor, b Lockwood 0 Gregory, 1.b.w., b Briggs 9 j Giffen, c McGregor, b Lockwood 4 Trumble, b Briggg 5 McLeod, c Lockwood, b Briggs ... 2 Tamer, b Briggß 7 Blackman, ran out 17 Bruce (not out) 13 Extras 5 Briggs took five wickets for 34, and Lockwood four for 37. Jackson and Bead scored freely off Turner's and Trumble's, but Giffen bowled with good effect. He dismissed Read and Briggs with successive balls, and caught Lockwood with one hand from a hard return. Jackson made one huge drive over the roof of the pavillion. There were thirteen fours in his score. The innings lasted seven hours and a-quarter.
When the Australians went in Lyons and Bannerman scored steadily for a while off Mold and Lock wood, but on Briggs replacing the former a rout set in, and play was of the feeblest description. Lyons succumbed to the Lancashire professional's third ball.
