Native Lands. At Mr Rees' meeting re native lands, a committee was appoiated to assist Mr Bees to reform the proposals. The Coming: Elections. The National Association is already active in connection wit the coming general election for the House of Representatives, and a dozen names are mentioned for the Auckland seats, including Sir G. Grey, Messrs Orowther, Porter, and Firth. Savings Bank Returns. The Savings Bank returns show 16,000 depositors, with half a million of money to their credit. There are 6000 penny depositors, and 32 ledgers are in use daily. Arrival of Austnuis. Fourteen Austrians arrived by the Te Anau and Zelt for the Northern gumfields. Over £5000 was sent during December to Austria. They are good workmen, honest and stqady, but make bad colonists, for all their savings g>) to Europe. Other men axe following in a few days. Orange Grand Lodge. The annual report of the Orange Grand Lodge last night showed the Order to be in a flourishing state.
