Gotemor and Lady Onalow and suite are to leave for Lyttelton by the Hiuemoa to-night. His Excellency had intended to ride from Blenheim to Christchurch, but owing to the change i» the weather the trip overland waa abandoned. Mr A. W. Brown, the retiring Mayor, will not offer himself for re-eleotioa. Mr C. F. Worth is as yet the ouly candidate announced. Earthquake Shock. The seismometer at the Colonial Museum shows that a Blight shock of earthquake was felt daring lsst Dight. The direction was norih-we3t and sonth-east. The shock was hlso Celt at Masterton. The Paklic Trust OfficeThe case D J. Kae;o v. the Public Trustee began in the Supremo Court before Judge Richmond to day. The plaintiff sues as daughter and next of kin of Mr Hugh Wright, formerly a carrier on Lincoln Bond, Christcburoh, and now an. incurable lunatic, and pleads that the estate haa beeu squandered by the Public Trustee in wasteful expenditure. She prays for a proper statement of account:!, and that the estate be taken from the Pablio Trust Office. The defence is a general .denial of the allegations.
