CHRISTCHURCH.-Last night.
A False Dsolaratioa.
At the Police Court this morning, Herbert Mortimer Stronger was charged with making a false declaration under the Marriage Act, to the effect that a girl to whom he was married was 21 years of age, and had been 7 days resident in Christohurch, whereas tbe girl, Margaret Bissett, was only 18. The Bench dismissed the case in regard to former residence, and on the other charge in reference to age accused was committed for trial.

The Premier had aa interview with the Governor last night on private Government business. The meeting of the Australasian Science Association to-day was devoted to the dis> cussion of various papers in the different aecione. This afternoon a large number of members and. visitors were entertained at a garden party by Mr and Mrs Leonard Harper. The weather is delightful, and the visitors are delighted with the cli? mate.
The Premier leaves for Wellington to • Bight. Last evening the Governor presented the certificates gained by the members of the St. John's Ambulance Association. He congratulated the Association on its progress, and hoped in tbe not distant future be would be able to make & longer stay in Chriatehurch.
