4 MINEES FALL 450 FEET, AND ARE SMASHED TO PIECES.
Four miners named Whitehead, By an, King, and White were ascending the shaft in the South Burwood mine this evening, when the cage, being overdrawn, •truck the poppet heads, the concussion causing the rope to break, and the men were precipitated to the bottom of the shaft, a distance of 450 ft, and were smashed to pieces.
