Correspondence.

THE WATER SUPPLY.

[To the Editor of the Evening Stab.')

Sib,—Kindly allow me space for a few remarks re our water supply. A day or two ago a report appeared in the papers from Mr Honiss on the County reservoir, and the way filth was being allowed to enter into it. Then Mr Laurie states that the Thames people are not drinking the County water, but the Parawai supply. Now, Mr Laurie knows perfectly well that most, if not all, the water consumed for domestic purposes is drawn from the County supply, and I fail to understand his motive for misrepresenting facts. The Water Supply Committee should by all means inspect the duck pond, and see that a filter is constructed. If most of us knew what we were drinking, we would not rest until our supply was purer.—l am, Ac, A Ratepayer*
