The manager reports:—"The reef at No. 5 level has been again broken down ; it is still 1 foot thick, carries favorable minerals, more especially near the floor, and colors of gold were observed in the quartz. The oouatry is more favorable for progress, and the contractors are making better headway, baring driven 17ft during the past week. The leading stope has been advanced 12ft, second 13ft, third|lßft, fourth JlOft; and the sth stope carrying both reefs has been advanced 9ft, and from this point the reefs will be carried in separate stopea, so that a fifth stope has been started on each from the wide stope. The reef in this (footwall) portion is from ten to twelve inches thick, with a large quantity of antimony, and colors of gold. In the 6th stope the footwall portion has been ! advanced 10ft. The reef here is the same size as above stated, and produced on the Bth inst. 23lbs of fair picked stone. On the hangingwall reef the 3rd stope is up to the head. The fourth has been advanced 12ft, and the sth 10ft; the reef is 12 inches wide, and J shows good colors of gold, while 2 or 31bs of picked stone have been selected from the fourth stope. On No. 1 footwall leader the sixth stope has been advanced 13ft, the 7th lift, and Bth 9ft. Six or 71bs of picked stone were obtained to-day from the 7^h stope. The leader is from 4to 6 inches thick, and shows good colors of gold.—F. James." CALEDONIAN. The manager has commenced operations near the chamber of No. 2 level on a small leader, intersected some time ago when Mr Turtle's employe's were driving, to connect the Hazlebank section with the Albion crosscut. When inter* sected strong colors of gold were seen, and as it is makiog back towards the main No. 1 reef, upon which there is an intact block of 90 feet at this point, there is a probability of payable quartz being met with at the junction. At No. 3 level stoping operations are in fall swing on Eowe's leader, which averages six inches in thickness, and shows good colors of K° d' GOLD RETURNS. New Albubhia—Jobe and party's crushing of 16 loads quartz and 601bs picked stone has produced 69ozs gold. Comes's Ejcjbantji.—Duncan and party have banked 33ozs gold. Caledonian jTbibittebs.--Sawyer and party have crushed 5 loads of quartz and 251bs picked stone for 320z3 melted gold ; Hodge and party, 8 loads quartz and 10 lbs picked stone, for 23ozs 9dwts; Stafford and party, 3 loads quartz and 101 bs picked stone for 12|ozs.
