DUNEDIN.

.Last night. The 64« pounder at Tairoa Heads was tested today in the presence of Major Bod ham. The Artillery were under the command of Major Goring. All three guns were tested with plugged shells, with a charge of ten pounds of powder, and some good shooting was made. One gan was tried at a floating target at about 1500 yards distance, with a bursting shell. The guns at St. Clair and Lawyer's Head, for the defence of Dunedin from Ocean Beach, will be tried to morrow. Another gun is to be mounted shortly at each of the batteries at the Heads, and several Nordenfeldts at the St. Clair and Lawyer's Heads batteries are also to be strengthened, and a third battery formed on the Sand Hills, midway between the two.
