CALEDONIAN.
The engine was not working to-day, the contractors being engaged in moving the pulleys to the new poppet heads. The winze sinking to connect the Nos. 2 and 3 levels is now down about 40 feet, and the No. 5 lode appears to improve gome down, good minerals and colors of gold being perceptible. The country is favorable to the existence of an auriferous deposit. The cross- cut to meet the winze is making fair progress through splendid sandstone country.
