AUCKLAND.
Last night.
The City of New York sailed for Frisco this afternoon with 60 passengers, amongst whom were Dr and Mrs Britten. The contractor for sinking a well on the new North lload brewery at 120 feet came across a seam of coal, which appears to be between a brown coal and a ligile. Smith, lirery stable keeper, while driving rapidly in a buggy, accompanied by Andrew Murray, of Napier, collided with a cart, and Smith was pitched out, sustaining injuries about the head. Murray escaped slightly injured.
