This Association is promoted with the object of securing for its members freehold farms in the Waimate Plains (or some other suitable locality) on the roost favorable terms end conditions, with a view of supplying to some extent the great and increasing demund for small holdings for lona fide settlement. As seen as the block is decided upon, and the preliminaries arranged, it •will be «urvey»d into sections of limited area and apportioned, by lot or otherwise, Recording to rules to be agreed upon at a general meeting of the subscribing members of the proposed Association in selections of a minimum value of One Hundred Pounds (£100) sterling, and a maximum value of (£400) sterling. The Provisional Directors will endeavor to induce the Government to grant to members j of the Association such modifications of the land on df ferred-payment clauses of the Land Act, 1877, as may facilitate occupation by hona fide settlers and subscribers without necessitating strict compliance with the present provisions of those clauses. The Pro* visional Directors will also endeavor to* make provision for ample reserves for religious, educational, recreation, and public health purposes, as suggested by the Minister of Lands to the deputation which lately waited upon the Government with the view of bringing this scheme under their notice and favorable consideration. The payments are to be computed on some well-defined, liberal, and easily-understood system of deferred payments, to be made by instalments extending over a period of, say not less than ten (10) years. Each subscribing member will be required to deposit a sum equal to ten pereentum of the total value of the share of land he applies for before hi§ application can be entertained, and a further payment of two percentum per month on said total value until such time as the. block to be applied for is acquired by the Association, and possession pan be given to applicants, or until"such time as the.Association shall make arrangements with the Govern* ment for allotting land to the subscribers, provided always that such monthly payments of two tercenLtun do not extend to a further period than six months from date of application.-'' '■■ >■■'. All monies received are to be paid into the Colonial Bank of New Zealand to the Association'! account, to be opened in the name of the Trustees, on fixed deposit bearing interest, and no withdrawals or payments to bo made by cheque! against such account without the authority and signature of the Treasurer, one of the Trustees, and three Directors being first obtained. Agents, or Acting-Directors, for, the A_so« ciafcion will also be appointed in all the centres of population throughout the provincial district as soon as practicable.
