I interviewed 5-piha—Pakara being away at Awaiti—the site of the pah. Epiha says that on no account will he go to Auckland, but thinks that a commission should come up and hear their version of the matter. He was very much pleased at our visit. If the new Government agree to his proposal no violence will be offered. We will call on our way down to-morrow when Pakara may be there. Pineaha made a most energetic speech, Harete interpreting for us.
