We hear it.rumored that a requisition is being got up to Mr W. Wilkinson proprietor of the Advertiser asking him to aliovr himself to be nominated for the Mayoralty. The present Mayor's term of office expires in December.

Mb Hall, in his speech last night said, if the Government hud wanted to act fair, they should have placed one of the G6vernment steamers at the disposal of the Opposition. Not a bad idea from his point of view.

To-atbiißow evening an entertainment in St. George's School room in the shape of a children's industrial exhibition will take place. During tho evening music and singing will enliven the proceedings. Mb Speight will make his first address in the General Assembly this afternoon, as he moved tile adjournment of the debate last night on the Address in Keply. 'J he tunnel through the Waio-Earaka Spur, constructed by Trainor, Scanlan, and party for the County Council, is a very creditable piece of work, and. we believed MrAitken, the County Engineer, has expressed himself well pleased in the manner the work has been carried out. The unfortunate part of the bargain ior the contractors is that they undertook the work at too low a price psr foot, and have consequently made little money by the transaction.

At the Waxworks last evening, notwithstanding the inclement weather, there was a good attendance. The prizes, distributed gave great satisfaction. Mr O'Brien, the popular and courteous manager of the show, informs us that the princippl prizes to-night ' will comprise two £1 notes, a silver watch, and a clock.
