COROMANDEL.
Friday. i On Wednesday the main crank of the pumping shaft of the Union Beach broke, pumping ceased, and the water has continued to make. The Directors . came down from Auckland and held a meeting to-day. They decided to close the mine for a short time, and all the hands will be paid off this week. The Eowena is lying at Kikowakarere with a raft of timber for Auckland and will leave this evening. A meeting of residents will be held this evening, when it is believed a resolution in favor of forming the district into a borough will be adapted.
