The Amende.—A lamplighter in the country was lately taken before the Mayor on a charge of Laving slept on his post, and thereby failed to extinguish his Jamps at daylight. The man admitted the charge, but said that he would make amends to the city for the cost or the extra gas by thereafter extinguishing the lamps earlier enough to more than make up for it.
