Mr Eoberts, Mayor, gave a fancy dress ball last night j two thousand guests present.

Bekbane, This day. The Government have, sent instructions to the Agent-General to stop emigration from the Continent of Europe to Queensland and reduce the number of British emigrants by one-third.

The blacks continue troublesome in Queensland. News has just been received of the murder of four Europeans on the Bourke river.

Sydney, February 18.

The reward for the capture of the Kellys, dead or alive, is increased to £8000, this colony contributing half. An Outlawry Bill will probably be passed here.

The London Commissioners of the Exhibition suggest 110,000 feet for

Great Britain, 64,000 for France, and 100,000 for other European countries. Cooper is arrested for the assault oa Heaton.

Meibouene, Wednesday. The foundation stone of the Exhibition Buildings was laid by the Governor today with great ceremony. There was a large attendance and a half holiday.

A gold trowel was presented, valued at one hundred guineas.

The ladies' present to Lady Bowen was a tiara of diamonds, valued at four hundred guineas.

The Governor has laid the foundationstone of the International Exhibition. The civil authorities, military, and naval forces were present. There was a great concourse. Swiyeller won the Cup.
