The fortnightly retorting was finished on Saturday afternoon, when the produce of 300 tons of quartz was found to be 3280zs gold. During the past week the stuff has been shaping hardly so well as hitherto, the lode apparently depreciating in value as the stopes go up. Tbe best gold obtained in this level has .been in its lowest portion in both lodes, clearly denioTistTati^^that it is richer going dojftrn, and there is good reason to expect profitable working in the next level.
