RETRENCHMENT POLICY.
The doctor'is going in for an Engineer, which will clap on about £400 a year to the "salaries" expenditure of the Borough. Of course he wouldn't think of dispensing .with the servicesl of Foreman of Works,. but by all' ac counts the billet will be open if • the doctor gets in, and Tom Bawdon's successor is to be "Brudder Workman" who has some stones for sate, and doesn't mind going bald-headed for the' doctor.
