The manager made a start at baling out the Point JKussell winze this morning, and aa a large volume of water is coming from the rise above tunnel level, it js evident
the water is cut, and there will be no difficulty in getting the winze drained, when sinking will be commenced as rapidly as possible. The following is the mine manager's weekly report :— "The south drive from top of Point Russell rise has been suspended after going 33 feet through clear country. On. opening oilt from rise a nice wall was crossed underlying and striking with the course of reef. Most of the water is coming out ten feet from the. face. I have now re-let 50 feet more at 40s per foot. The water in Point Bussell winze has gone down 18 feet, and next Monday we shall start, bailing o«t the water' and resume sinking in order to connect with rise as early at possible. Engine Shaft—This is now down 68 feet below bottom of 150 feet level, and last night opening out for chamber was started by contract for £20. When this is completed, and the crosscut started, I shall sink shaft 8 feet deeper for well. No. 9 reef, 150 ft. level: A few weeki since I reported picking up a footwall branch from No. 9. This is now looking very promising,in the stope west, being 10 inches thick, with abundance of mineral and showing colors of gold. 80;fe#t level— In driving west No, 2 reef is three feet thick, and this end is now coming about underneath where payable stuff mm taken is the level above. During first week of the past fortnight, our stuff was unusually poor i 255 tons have been orushed yielded 96ozs of retorted gold. lam Ac EoOT. Comee." " ''" .' Green and party have finished a eru|hinjj on Saturday'for the yield of 2£oziw gold. The parcel amounted, to-11 tons., Bead and party have finished their crushing for the good yield of 82£om gold. The company's gold melted to 95 ounces.
