HOKITIKA.
Tuesday. A petition has been posted to the Government, bearing about one thousand signatures, praying for the immediate construction of the Hokitika and Grey railway. A discovery of alluvial gold about 23 miles south of Ross is making some talk. The prospectors obtained an encouraging return, and will take a few days to determine the extent of ground payable. Several parties have sot to work in the locality, which is new, and only a mile and a-half from the Bowen road.
