Wood stated that DR. COLLIS BROWNE was \J undoubtedly tho inventor of CHLORODYJNE ; that the story of tho defendant, Freeman, being (he inventor was deliberately untrue, which ho regretted bad been sworn to. Eminent Hospital Physicians of London stated that Dr. J. CollU Browno was the discoverer of Chlorodyno 5 that they prcßcribo it largely, and mean no other than Dr. Browne's.—See limes, July 12, 1864. Tho public, therefore, are>autioned against using any other than DE. J. COLLIS BBOWNE'S CHLOKODYNE. Bembdiai. Übbß and Action. Karl Rusecll communicated to the Caliege of Physicians and J. T. Davenport that he had received information to tho effect that the only remedy of any service in Cholera was Chlorodyno.—See Lancet, Dec. 31, 1864. From A. Montgomery, Eeq, lute Inspector of Hospitals, Bombay:—" Chlorodyuo it a most vulunblo remedy in ■ Neuralgia, Asthma, and Dysentery. To it I fairly owe my restoration to health, after 18 months' eevero suffering, and when other remedies had failed." Dr. Lowe, Medical missionary in India, reports (Dec. 1865) that in nearly every case of Choleru in which Dr. J. Collis Browne's Cblerodyne was administered tha patient recovered. AXYGEN IS LIFE. Although tho modern Matcria Medina in* eludes many valuable remedies for human afflictions, it is a matter of certaiuty that in nil cases where the animal vitality is failing, Phosphorus is decidedly Buperior to every other remedy at present known. It will work effects such ns nothing else will produce, and it possesses the great advantage of not causing, when its use is relinquished, the slightest re* action or depression. The question naturally presents itself, "Why is bo valuable an eloment so little regarded and so seldom prescribed ? " The only answer which can be given is : —That a certain difficulty has been found in so preparing it that its action mny be kept under perfect control. Hitherto it has been used in almond and olive oils, in sulphuric ether, in rectified alcohol, in chloroform, and in several other substances ; but however valuable it has been found in all tho hitherto known methods of its preparation, certain irregular results have been experienced, which have led physicians to neglect it for gcnernl purposes, and to employ it only in extreme cases, and after every other remedy has failed. But a chemical process has now been discovered, by which its invaluable action on the human system may be realised without any of those drawback! which previous modes of administration have invariably produced. *3T Caution- — PHOSPHORUS is sometimes sold in the forth of Pills and Lozenges 5 it should be generally known that every form whore SOLID PARTICLES of Phosphorus are in combination is dangerous. It is therefore necessary that the public should bo cautioned against the ueeof any preparation of Phosphorus not perfectly soluble in water.
