W. FsAarcn, Warden. SCHEDULE. No. I.—Late Licensed Holding, No. 55, known as the John o'Gronts Claim; . late licensee, the John o'Groats Gold Mining Company (Limited). Area, five seres two roodß and twenty two .perches, more or less; situated at Pnkchinau Creek. Bounded on the rorth by supposed unoccupied ground, on the east by the Hose and Shamrock Licensed Holding , on tho south by supposed unoccupied ground, and on the west bj late Prince Llewellyn lease. 1378 "STAMP ACT, 1875." BILLS OF LADING AND BEOEIPT3 IN LIEU THEREOF. IT is hereby notified,; that, after the Ist of January next, tho use of Impressed Stamps on Bills of Lading is compulsory. Such documents must, after (hat date, be •written upon paper p- eviously impressed at the Head Office, and rannot be stamped after the execution thereof. It is requested, therefore, that Merchants, Shipping Agont 8, and others concerned, will, ■without delay, forward tp this office such forms as they may rcqu're to be impressed, accompanied by the usual requisition and receipt of the Bank of New Zealand for the amount, less the authorised discount. Information may be obtained at any Stamp Office. The provisions of the Act bearing on this point are as follow :— " 47. Except where express provision is made to the contrary, all dutieu are to be denoted by impressed stomps only." "62. (1.) A Bill of Lading includes aho any receipt given in lieu: thereof- from the master, mate, owner, or agent of any vessel, and is not to be stamped after the execution thereof. (2.) Every person who makrs or executes any Bill of Lnding not duly stamped shall forfeit a sum not exceeding £50." SCHEDULE. TRANSFERS OF SHARES. 1 T is hereby notified, that, after the Ist of JL January next, the use of Impressed Stamps upon Transfers of Shares is compulsory, but transfers of shares may be stamped at a Stamp Oflicc by the Commissioner er v Deputy Commissioner within ore month after exeeu- i t:on without a fne. Managers nnd Secretaries of Companies, Sharebrokerc, and ohera interested, are recommended to forward, without delay, such j forms of transfer us they may require to be impressed, accompanied by the usual requisilion and receipt from the Bank of New Zealand for umrunt thereof, less the authorized discount. . No instrument of 'sale or transfer of any share cr shares shall be valid, either at law or in equity, unless the nnnie of the purchaser or transferee is inse'tod therein at the time of or before the execution of the icstrument of ssle or transfer ; and, if any person execu(C3 a pale-rote, transfer contract-note, or other instrument of sale or transfer, in any manner, or for any purpose whatsoever, un-less-tho uuine of the purchaser is insertod therein at the time or before the execution thereof, he shall forfeit a sum of not less th:>n £20 or tnoro than dElOO; and, if any such instrument--is bo mndo or signod, it shall be wholly and absolutely void and inoperative, and shall in no caso be made available by the insertion of a name or any other particulaivs" afterwards ; and tho person selling or transferring such share shall not be divested of his interest therein, but shall* remain liable thereon as if he had never sold or disposed of tho aame. And if such person is a licensed eharebrokcr, his license shall, on any conviction under this section, b) absolutely forfeited, and he shall not thereafter be qualified to act as a broker, or to have a fresh license issued to him. ..,-.. ; .„ " 104. No fiharebroker, auctioneer, commission ngerit, or any other person shall be entitled to any brokerage, commission, or any other fee or reward in respect of the s ile or transfer of any such* share, unless the instrument of sale or transfer is filled up with nil necessary particulars to make it a complete instrument, and is duly stamped.
