GOLDEN CROWN.

For the past six weeks this company have been engaged in trying to obtain from their mine stone that would warrant the outlay and induce the further developement of their property by sinking. With this view the manager, Mr Donnelly has ransacked the workings, taking out parcels of stone from the different reefs left from former workings, from the 180 feet (the lowest level) upwards, and the result has been conclusive that it will not pay. The first crushing resulted in 34 ozs. 6 dwts from 97 tons ; this the second, of 63 tons crushed at their own mill realised 17 ounces 9 dwts 12 grains melted gold, a lower rate even than the former one, and not to be continued. The mill and mine will noT be closed, pending such instructions as niay be received from the directory in Auckland.
