General Notices > E W ZEALAND.' GOVERNMENT LIFE INSURANCE. I—The Government Life Insurance Department issues all desirable . forms of Policies. The Payment of every Policy is guaranteed by t/ie Colony. Participation in Profits is authorised'by the Legislature to be given to Policy-holders. 2-Premium rates are lower than ■those of Private Companies. 3—No Policy or Medical Pee» charged. 4—All Policies are non-forfeit- ' able after one full annual payment to the full extent of their value, under a special regulation providing for the continuance in force of every Policy for the original amount, until the surrender-value of the Policy is exhausted in payment of premiums. s—Absolute Security from Loss* —Insurers, after having paid three full annual premiums, are guaranteed a cash surrender value of not less than 40 per cent, of the paid-up premiums; and if for aay reason the premiums ere not paid when due, a paidup Policy will be issued, generally equal in amount to the premiums paid, and often much in excess. 6—Thirty days of grace are allowed on all Benewal Premiums. „ 7—Liberal conditions v to travel* . ling and residence. B—Policies protected from Bankruptcy. —An Insurance Policy effected by the Insured, l»najide on his own life, is protected from bankruptcy or insolvency laws to a certain amount, which increases with its duration. Thus, after it has endured for two years, it is protected to the extent-of £200 j after five years, to £800; after seven years, to £1000; after ten years, to £2000. This protection applies only is favour of the personal representative of the Insured. 9—Married women may effect Policies, dispose of the money by will, as if single; and their Policies are protected from the debt* of their husbands, according to dura- ' tion, to amounts similar to those stated above. 10—Settlement Policies—Policies effected for the benefir, of the wife and -. childr. n of the Insured are absolutely pro- •- tccted from the claims of creditors to the extent of £2000, provided that the premiums are payable during life, or any period not less than eeven years. If apr-orti mment is not made at the time, it can be subsequently made by will. 11—Probate, &c, dispensed with —When a claim under a Policy does not exceed £200, the Commissioner may dispense with the production of Probate or Letters of Administration, thus saving great expense to the representatives of the Insured. 12—Prompt .payment of Claims and no discount charged.
