/ At the shop of Mr Avenell, butcher, Pollen street, this- moaning, could be seen a fine sirloin of prime beef, weighing some ten or twelve pounds, and ticketed " One of the prizes to be given away at the Theatre Royal to-night."
The pit of the Theatre Royal was crowded on Saturday evening to witness the attractions announced to take place by the Airec Troupe. The performances were much, the same as on previous occasions, and were well performed. Mr Jacobs introduced some now tricks, and in his ventriloquial imitation of Mr Jones in. the roof cleverly managed to bring his voice from various parts, of the building, the top of the theatre, the side, the back, each seeming at different times to be the whereabouts of the invisible Mr Jones. The presents were distributed in a perfectly bona fide manner, and were well received, being of a useful as well as ornamental kind, the recipient of the calf's head coming in for the largest amount of goodtempered chaff. After all the presents were presented, the tickets were placed in a hat and an additional prize given away in a shape of a handsome electroplated tea and coffee service.; The winner was Mr Brett, who, after having obtained his prize—imagining no doubt that he had got quite enough—had left the theatre. It will, however, be presented to him tonight, when one hundred other prizes will also be given, and the winners of each of these prizes will iiave>a chance of $the great prize, aboxofteai- MrTaipari was extremely fortunate on Saturday night, securing no less than foHr prizes. We may mention that this is the last appearance of Airec and his presents at the Theatre Royal. .
It is some time since we were called upon to record anything in the way of "selling off" or " immense reductions " in the clothing department. But we are now reminded that Messrs J. Cosgrave and Co., are calling a sale of drapery and clothing at their establishments in Owen and Albertstreets. The stocks in these establishments embrace £20,000 worth of goods. Cheap drapery and winter clothing will now be the order of the day.—Advt.
