July 30. In the House of Commons Mr Plimsoll apologised and withdrew his former expressions. Mr Disraeli considered the apology full and satisfactory, and the motion for a reprimand was discharged At the Introductory Municipal Banquet at Guildhall several Mayors were present, and cordial speeches exchanged. Colonel Baker of the 10th Hussars has been tried for indecently assaulting a lady in a railway carriage, and sentenced to twelve month*' imprisonment without hard labor, with £500 fine and costs;
