■ Retorting* for the abore'eompany will not take place till Monday, that being tho regular day. An average return is expected, tho stuff having been .rather poor during the greater part of the fortnight; but for the" last three days a very noticeable improvement has taken place in; the character of the stone sent to'the mill, if which continues, the fortnight following will bring grist to the mill of the company. ' The probable'yield so far as it is possible to ascertain is 176 ounces of gold, which is an .improvement on last fortnight, although for a considerable part * of the time there have been only 15 head of stamps at woik, one' of "the boxes having smashed.
