PUMPING ASSOCIATION.
There is nothing doing at the Pumping Association Works save pumping out the water in the shaft, and the thought that even this may have to be stopped should arrangements not be satisfactorily made during the next few days, is one which cannot but cause uneasiness to, all: becauie such a stoppage, with its attendant consequences, would affect all — even Auckland itself; and it is much to be regretted that the Council do not seem to view it in tliat light. That an immediate cessation of most important mining would follow the discontinuance 'of work by the Big Pump is obvious, and therefore it_ is sincerely to be hoped that tho mission upon which the deputation of mine managers are bound will be productive of the result desired.
