THE KURANUI TUNNEL.
As soon as a quorum of the directors of the present Kufanui tunnel can be got together a proposition will be made to wind up the old company' ana form another, with sufficient capital to continue the tunnel to Punga'iPlat on a principle; which will make the carryingoutof thi work self-iupporting. The plan to be adopted, so far as as can be ascertained, will "be by diverting the present traffip coming down to the flat and pass stone down the Moanataiari Company a shaft at the Junction and truck it through the present tunnel, charging a small toll for its transit. This toll, it is thought, would raise sufficient funds to; pay the wages' of the men continuing the tunnel and other costs. A.system of hoppers is alio prepared to be-erected on the Grahamstown flat, by which stone sent down could be trucked or carted to any battery on the beach. . ;
